Virginia's paintings are founded in the legacy of the past
American Landscape painters. Her work is influenced by those who
came before: the landscape painters who defined American Art,
such as the Hudson River School, the Plein Air Painters of
California and on through the vernacular of American
Impressionism as seen in the works of Homer, Twatchman and
Benson.
Landscapes were the sensibilities of their times and are still
the sensibilities of landscape painters today. The genre of
Landscape has always captured the hearts and emotions of the
American public and will continue to do so.
She creates her landscapes from the classical sense to the
modern and sometimes stylistically in between. Virginia defines
her style as expressive colorism, with the use of bold stroke
and the pushing of intense color.
